AUDEMARD STRENGTHENS ITS POSITION AS LEADER IN BUILDING MATERIALS WITH THE ACQUISITION OF LA RÉUNION’S TERALTA

The family group AUDEMARD has taken over the activities of TERALTA, a subsidiary of the Irish group CRH and one of La Réunion’s leading producers in building materials (cement, aggregate, concrete and prefabrication).

 

AUDEMARD, a leader in building materials in the French overseas territories

Through the 2015 merger of the industrial giants HOLCIM and LAFARGE, CRH acquired over €6.5 billion in assets worldwide from the new group LAFARGE-HOLCIM, including LAFARGE’s assets in La Réunion which will be rebranded as TERALTA.

AUDEMARD is a small family-owned business specialising in building materials. It was founded in French Massif Central in 1885 by Antoine AUDEMARD. Today, the company, which is headed by his great-grandsons Daniel and Philippe and is headquartered in Nice, has experienced constant growth through a series of acquisitions and creations of new sites.

AUDEMARD operates six businesses (cement, aggregate, concrete, ready-mix concrete, prefabrication, landfilling of inert materials and roadworks) through 19 subsidiaries and 42 production sites and has over 500 employees worldwide.

TERALTA, which has been established on the French island for over 50 years, comprises two companies, Teralta Granulat Béton Réunion (TGBR) and Teralta Ciment Réunion (TCR), which are involved in the island’s major local development projects such as the famous “Route du Littoral”. It has helped to develop best practices aimed at building La Réunion of tomorrow.

A 160-strong team joins AUDEMARD

A big business is joining AUDEMARD: 12 production sites throughout the island, organized around 4 activities (cement, aggregate, concrete, prefabrication) and a team of 160 staff to develop a turnover of more than 75 million euros.

Through this major acquisition, the AUDEMARD family group, which is already active in New Caledonia, French Guiana, Guadeloupe and Martinique, strengthens its position as leader in building materials on the French overseas territories and becomes an importer of cement through the TERALTA terminal at the port of La Réunion, which can accommodate up to 12,000-ton vessels.

AUDEMARD, with a staff of more than 500 people, is now involved in six businesses:

  • Cement
  • Aggregate
  • Ready-mix concrete
  • Prefabrication
  • Landfilling of inert materials
  • Roadworks

through 19 companies and 42 industrial sites around the world (Alpes-Maritimes, Var, Principality of Monaco, overseas territories and Republic of Guinea) and can serenely look ahead to the future with this motto:
